Kendra Carson, MA, MT-BC

Kendra Carson, MA, MT-BC has 20 years experience is a range of Long Term Care Settings for people with Dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and other memory impairment issues. Music has been an effective tool in her treatment with clients. Kendra has lead a variety of music therapy programs which include: drum circles, bell choirs, reminiscence groups, and family music-making groups to name a few. Her most personal work includes working with hospice teams to assist families and their loved one transition on. In 2016 Kendra branched out into private practice in the Dayton, Ohio area working with clients of all ages and needs.

Kendra Carson received a BA in Music and BS in Psychology from Plymouth State University. Later, she completed an MA in Expressive Therapies (Music Therapy option) from Lesley University.

In addition to her private music therapy practice, she was also adjunct faculty at University of Dayton serving as a supervisor to music therapy students. She provided supervision for students completing their practicum experience in nursing home and elementary and middle school settings.

Teaching piano started during her pedagogy studies at Plymouth State University some 25+ years ago. Kendra enjoys sharing the joy of learning and playing the piano with students.

Kendra extended her teaching experiences when she began teaching general music to grades pre-K through grade 8 at CinDay Academy. Here she offered hands on and engaging lessons to encourage the students to engage in their learning through playing, moving and exploring music.

Most recently, she accepted a full time position for a hospice agency offering music therapy to the clients. Serving the Dayton area with music therapy services and piano teaching has been a fun experience. Kendra is looking forward to starting this new adventure in her music therapy career.

When she is not practicing music therapy, she is enjoying gardening, yoga and being outdoors. She enjoys camping with her husband and their 2 boys and snuggling with their dog, Sasha.
